My husband, Louis, decided to make a lifestyle change and went on a strict Keto diet. Not only did he want to lose weight, he wanted a healthier life; and that meant eating real, whole foods that could provide his body with natural energy. However, my husband had one other requirement: he didn’t want to sacrifice flavor. Louis likes to eat (trust me on this!) -- but he won’t eat just anything, he enjoys food that is bursting with bold, dynamic flavors that remind him of his home city, Damascus.
He, like the rest of our family, enjoys the traditional cooking that was passed down from our family for generations. And hummus is one of our stables that we all love. However, hummus, traditionally made with chickpeas, is chock full of carbs (AKA not keto-friendly) and can make our bodies feel sluggish. But cutting hummus from our diets was simply not an option -- we enjoy it too much!
Considering this, I wanted to come up with a hummus alternative -- a replacement for chickpeas, that didn’t interfere with the flavor of our family’s recipe. That’s when I started experimenting with cauliflower. I quickly realized that cauliflower, a naturally low-carb vegetable, contains a creamy-smooth texture that mimicked the consistency of chickpeas and paired perfectly with the other ingredients that make up our authentically Mediterranean hummus; pure olive oil, garlic, sea salt, lemon, herbs and spices.
To us, food is love. We care about the food we make and we care about the people we share it with. Naya Foods is all about family. If you are eating our food, from our kitchen, I consider YOU a part of our family.
Welcome! There is always a seat for you at our table.

When we say the Mediterranean diet, we don’t mean “diet” in the sense of following a strict set of food guidelines as a means to losing weight. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to eating Mediterranean inspired cuisine, (you can even enjoy red wine!). Rather, this philosophy is all about eating whole foods that are low-carb, provide lean-protein, healthy-fats, and are rich with nutrients sourced from fresh fruits and veggies.
Think salads chock full of crisp garden greens, sun-ripened tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, onions, fresh feta cheese from the local dairy farmer, and a dollop of (Naya’s Cauliflower-based) hummus. Or, line-caught salmon baked in an olive oil, lemony-garlic sauce, sprinkled with capers, served next to a bed of lettuce, a side of cous-cous and (Naya’s) babaganoush. Or, starting your day with thick and creamy greek yogurt and sliced fresh fruit. This type of cuisine is naturally beneficial to supporting health and wellness.
Sounds delish, right? It is. And it’s good for you.
In addition to being yummy and satisfying, studies have found that the Mediterranean diet, (by comparison to diets that include high consumption of red meat and processed foods), are linked to health benefits, such as cardiovascular health. In fact, the Mediterranean diet is recommended by Dietary Guidelines for Americans to prevent chronic disease. Now, we think that is something to celebrate!
We hope you’ll enjoy Naya’s Foods in good health and happiness.
